History
A blend of lush beauty and rich history prevail at the Geneva Golf Club – commemorating 100 years in 2000.
The Geneva Golf Club was organized in 1900 by renting land from the McChesney Farm. We were admitted to the Western Golf Association in 1905 and ten years later purchased the 40 acres from the McChesney Family. The Golf Course and Clubhouse remain on those same 40 acres today.
The golf course was rebuilt that year; substantially as it is now. The clubhouse was built in 1919 with water being piped to all the greens in 1921. The first tennis court was built in the late 1920’s followed by a swimming pool in 1934. Platform tennis (paddle) began in the early 1960’s with the addition of the deckhouse and cabana in 1982.
Numerous changes have occurred on the golf course during the past 35 years, and they are continuing today. Our long-term improvement program included the unveiling of the new six-lane 25 yard pool and renovated clubhouse in 2007. Our goal is to become one of the best 9-hole golf courses in the region.
Geneva Golf Club has historically been a family-oriented club with full participation by members in many club functions including its time-honored Wednesday Night Suppers, various dances and seasonal festivities. There are several youth programs for various age groups, all of which are instructed by tennis and golf professionals and supervised by the parents.
